TU Delft
The Product Sound Design Group is affiliated with the Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering, at TU Delft. The main goal is to investigate the perceptual, experiential, and functional properties of product sounds. The PSDG is especially interested in the sounds of domestic appliances and the use of sounds in user interfaces. The aim is to translate the findings of our research into the design of new sounds for products. In the group expertise from the disciplines of psychology, acoustics, industrial design engineering, music, and sound design are combined to come up with solutions and new insights for industrial partners and the scientific community. Important to note is that it is not the aim to make products absolute silent because they believe that sound plays an important role in people's interaction with industrial products.
